摘要

Theoretical and experimental work on laminar flow entrance region heat transfer is described. The particular aspect of the problem chosen for study was that where heating is started at different stages of flow development. In the experimental study, local heat transfer coefficients were measured in an electrically heated horizontal tube using glycerol/water mixtures as the heat transfer medium. The range of experimental Prandtl numbers studied was 60 to 550. Natural convection and variable fluid property effects were kept to a minimum by using a small bore tube and low heat fluxes. The experimental results showed close agreement with the theoretical model.
