摘要

The effects on overall heat transfer rates of eccentric placement of the inner pipe of a liquid-metal counter-flow double-pipe heat exchanger were determined experimentally. The results show that over the range of operating conditions covered, eccentricity has a small effect on the overall heat transfer and that for most practical engineering design calculations, eccentricity can be ignored. The results show, however, that the effects of eccentricity on circumferential heat flux and temperature distribution are considerable. A procedure for calculating temperature and flux distributions for eccentric operation with equal sodium flow rates on both sides of the exchanger is described and applied to the data of a typical experiment.
