A method of solution for the compressible two-dimensional turbulent boundary layer is presented. The method employs a mixing length concept to express the apparent turbulent shearing stress in the boundary layer. A form of the Reynolds analogy allows the formulation of the governing conservation equations of mass, momentum, and energy in partial differential form. The equations are then solved by an inherently stable, explicit, noniterative, finite-difference procedure which is numerically more direct than others recently proposed. Results are compared with experiments for several types of flows with and without heat transfer, pressure gradients, and wall blowing and suction.
