With the model of a backward-facing step in a flat plate boundary layer the local mass transfer in separated regions is determined. The flow boundary layer (FBL) at separation is laminar as well as turbulent. The upstream of flow separation has an inert and active starting length. Therefore at separation a concentration boundary layer (CBL) is present or not. For laminar as well as turbulent FEL at separation result three types of local separated regions. Thereby the maximum of mass (heat) transfer can be greatly different from the reattachement of the flow. Each flow type gives a characteristical exponent in Nusselt-power-law-functions. The new results show, that these exponents depend on the Sc- or Pr- number: Therefore no universal exponents for the Be-number exist in separated flows.
