摘要

Diffusional deposition of droplets in the sub-micron size range was studied by a simulation method employing air-entrained uranine particles 0.07 to 0.24 μm diameter in a cascade of full-size blades. The extent of the deposition was found by fluorimetric measurements of a prepared reception surface mounted on the blade. With a knowledge of the boundary layer characteristics the theoretical distribution of deposition was calculated using theories due to Lin and to Davies and acceptable agreement with the measured distribution obtained. Tests were taken representing approx. 75% full load in a low-pressure turbine, for comparison with earlier tests representing full load. The non-dimensional groups that must be matched for valid simulation are discussed.
