摘要

A theory and experimental results are presented for the condensation of steam on a horizontal cylinder under the influence of high crossflow vapour velocities. The theoretical model allows for vapour separation as well as considering isothermal and non-isothermal tube wall conditions. Heat transfer coefficients are shown to increase with vapour shear mainly because of the thin condensate film on the leading edge of the cylinder. Experimental results for saturated steam at pressures of 0.2 to 0.5 bar condensing on a water cooled brass tube are shown to compare much better with the non-isothermal theory than with the isothermal one which overestimates the average heat transfer coefficient.
