摘要

Local measurements of the heat transfer coefficient to laminar flow inside helically-coiled tubes have been made for water and Dowtherm G. Two coils having coil diameter to inside tube diameter ratios of 20.2 and 41.7 were tested over a Reynolds number range from 6 to the transition points (7650 and 6060 respectively). The corresponding Dean number range is from 1 to 1700, with Grashof numbers from 241 to 922,000. The local values demonstrate the existence of natural convection effects at low Reynolds numbers. A correlation including corrections for curvature and natural convection effects is presented.
