摘要

The interaction between turbulence and radiation is investigated by comparing the results obtained in the calculation of the radiation intensity along a line of sight using two different approaches. In the first one, the radiative transfer equation is solved for a sufficiently large number of realizations using instantaneous scalar profiles generated by a semicausal stochastic model, and averaged values are computed from the instantaneous solutions. In the second approach, the radiative transfer equation is time averaged, and the correlation between fluctuations of the absorption coefficient and fluctuations of the radiation intensity are neglected. The radiative properties of the gas are calculated using the spectral line-based weighted-sum-of-grey-gases model. It was found that the time-averaged equation yields results in close agreement with those of the stochastic approach, with largest differences being about 4%. If the turbulence/radiation interaction is partially accounted for, by assuming that it only affects the blackbody radiation intensity, then the radiation intensity is overpredicted, while if the interaction is completely ignored, the radiation intensity is underpredicted. In the present calculations, typical errors were about 10% in the first case and 20% in the second one.
