NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN VERTICAL FLAT PLATES WITH UNIFORM HEAT FLUX
摘要
Combined free and forced convection between vertical,
parallel, flat plates open top and bottom is
investigated for uniform but asymmetrical heat
flux. Laminar, fully developed flow is assumed.
Effect of surrounding fluid being at a temperature
above bottom temperature is considered. Fluid temperature
rise through the passage is considered a dependent quantity and can be found explicitly from
the results. Tests of large size power transformer
windings in oil show that analytical results are
applicable for Rayleigh numbers less than 150. For
Rayleigh numbers above 150 turbulence and entrance
effects make the results inapplicable.
