摘要

Much work has been reported in the literature on heat flux measurement methods ranging from specific sensors for furnace work to multiple thermocouple arrangements for low temperature work. Previous work undertaken by members of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Melbourne has involved the use of one particular type of commercially-available sensor. The calibration procedures adopted in the past have been unsatisfactory due to neglect of such factors as sensor disturbance and the presence of radiation effects. This paper describes a calibration technique that allows for these factors. A calibration procedure for using the sensors on spherical and non-spherical axisymmetric shapes is described. Results obtained for local heat transfer rates around such shapes are presented.
