摘要

This paper aims to give a review of basic research and development mainly of metallic high temperature heat exchangers for gas-gas heat transfer. There are serious demands for the development of high temperature heat exchangers of recuperative type to be used in high temperature chemical plants, new power generation plants, energy saving and effective utilization of heat. Among problems associated with research and development of high temperature heat exchangers, in addition to heat transfer enhancement problems peculiar to high temperatures, there are several very important problems about high temperatures such as reliability, heat transfer deterioration due to high heat flux, thermal stress and thermal expansion and difficulty in scaling-up. Problems associated with high temperature heat exchangers of shell-tube type and plate-fin compact type are discussed in details. In addition, some tube-side heat transfer enhancement means for fluidized beds or combustors are also discussed for future power plants using coal as fuel.
