摘要

In this paper critical heat flux measurements carried out with a binary mixture of freon 11 and freon 113 are presented. The measurements were made with a cylinder of a large diameter placed horizontally in a forced flow across the cylinder; the cross flow was perpendicular to earth gravity. The undisturbed liquid velocity and the liquid subcooling were varied. The experimental results show that in the intermediate range at mole fractions between 0.1 and 0.9 the critical heat flux increases scharply as the mole fraction of the component of low concentration is further increased. The critical heat flux reaches a maximum at a mole fraction of the more volatile component between 0.55 and 0.65 and can be 75% higher than the value that would have been obtained by linear interpolation between the values of the pure components.
