摘要

Measurements of local condensate heat transfer coefficients during downflow over a test section of small bundles of tubes of 448, 748, 1058 and 1406 fins per metre have been carried out at the HTFS Condenser Research Facility. The vapour shear and inundation effects on condensation are described. Measured enhancement ratios (low-finned / plain tubes) are presented and discussed. A recently published single-tube model (Rose, 1993), which promises a significant advance by taking into account both gravity and surface tension effects on the condensate film thickness, is extended to allow for inundation and vapour shear. An assessment of this model against all of the tube bundles yields promising results for development of an improved prediction method.
