摘要

Experiments have been performed in a horizontal cylindrical capsule cooled from one end to obtain the temperature distribution, surface temperature variation and freezing front position as functions of time. A one−dimensional analysis was carried out using the heat balance integral approximations. Comparison of the predictions and experimental data showes that the freezing rate decreased due to natural convection in the liquid region and that the freezing front proceeded linearly with time.
