摘要

A model is developed for the initial chemical reaction fouling of a heat transfer surface in which surface attachment, treated as a process in series with mass transfer, is assumed to vary directly with the residence time of the fluid at the surface. The model is applied to successfully predict the initial fouling rate data of Crittenden et al. (1987a) for the solution polymerization of styrene flowing through a heated tube over a 100-fold variation of initial fouling rate.
