摘要

A high-energy proton beam is irradiated to a target in a spallation reactor for a pulsed neutron source. A target consist of tungsten rectangular plates placed parallel and cooled by a heavy water flow in the plate gaps is a candidate of the solid target for a MW-class proton beam. Flow excursion in the parallel channels and burnout phenomena were considered as the safety consideration of the target. The minimum point in pressure drop characteristics and the burnout heat flux in a narrow rectangular channel were experimentally studies. The safety limit of the target was discussed by the experimental results.
