MECHANISM ELUCIDATION FOR THE MINIATURIZATION-BOILIN PHENOMENON IN DROPLET COLLISION BOILING SYSTEM

The purpose of this research is to clarify the mechanism of the miniaturization-boiling phenomenon, which intensely scatters with a large number of minute liquid particles from a water droplet surface to the atmosphere, when the droplet collided with a heated surface. In order to clarify the generation mechanism of the miniaturization-boiling, coalescence and disappearance behaviours of micro bubbles in a superheated liquid film formed at the moment of the collision with the sapphire heated surface were photographed by a framing camera of a million frame/second from the back of the heated surface. The experiment was also conducted on copper, brass, titanium and those oxidation surfaces in addition to the sapphire heated surface in order to examine the effect of the heated surface material on the miniaturization-boiling. Disappearance or condensation rate of a coalescence bubble on the heated surface was estimated, and it was related to a dispersion speed of the minute liquid particle in the miniaturization-boiling.
