摘要

Numerical simulation is performed to analyse the effect of contact angle on a vapour bubble growing on a wall inside a microchannel. The microchannel is of 200 microns square cross section and a vapour bubble nucleates at one of the walls, with liquid coming in through the channel inlet. The complete Navier-Stokes equations along with continuity and energy equations are solved using the SIMPLER method. The liquid vapor interface is captured using the level set technique. The bubble grows rapidly due to heat transfer from the walls and soon turns into a plug filling the entire channel cross section. Calculations are carried out with different values of the contact angle between the liquid-vapour interface and the channel walls. The inlet liquid velocity and the wall superheat are kept constant. The vapour bubble growth and the area averaged wall heat transfer at the channel walls are studied for different values of contact angle. The bubble with the lowest contact angle resulted in the highest wall heat transfer.
