Abstract

The two-dimensional incompressible laminar boundary layer has been analyzed to show the effects of radiation absorbing ablation products in an irradiant environment. The predominant mechanism for interchange of radiant energy was assumed to be the absorptivity of the ablation products. The detailed solution was obtained by the von Karman integral method. The conditions at the stagnation point of a blunt body and the governing relations along the body were established. Numerical results were obtained for various flow conditions, surface ablation properties, product absorptivities and incident flux intensities.
