Abstract

An experimental program was undertaken to study post-dryout heat transfer over an extended region (up to 2 m long) and over a wide range of thermohydraulic conditions in a vertical tube. A simple method for pre dieting thermal non-equilibrium, based on the calculation of actual quality as a function of thermodynamic quality, dryout quality, and fluid properties, was developed. Comparisons of the experimental data with predictions both by the aforementioned me thod and by other well known correlations have confirmed the importance of accounting for thermal non-equilibrium inside two-phase flow.
