Abstract

Experiments were performed with liquid hydrocarbons of low density flowing in the form of drops in a media of water at a different temperature. Measurements and observations suggest that the controlling mechanism of heat transfer at low Re is the free convection inner circulation of the drops. Even then the heat transfer coefficients are much higher than in conventional heat exchanges.
