Abstract

A successive substitution technique and a numerical method for determination of the effectiveness of crossflow heat exchanger accounting for the effect of the two-dimensional flow nonuniformitv on both hot and cold fluid sides are presented. Using some typical data of flow maldistributions, the exchanger effectiveness and its deterioration are calculated for various conditions. It was found that the deterioration of exchanger performance is quite significant in some typical applications.
