THE PEEDICTION OF FLOW BOILING BUBBLE POPULATIONS FROM GAS BUBBLE NUCLEATIOH EXPERIMENTS

Abstract

The size distribution of naturally occurring bubble nucleation sites on a stainless steel heater surface was determined bу a gas nucleation technique and compared with that of the active boiling sites on the same surface. It is shown that the construction of a predictive model is complicated by the processes of thermal interference and seeding which occur in boiling but not in gas nucleation.
