FOULING IN HEAT EXCHANGERS

Norman Epstein
Department of Chemical Engineering, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia V6T 1W5, Canada

Abstract

Reported work on fouling of heat transfer surfaces is critically surveyed, with particular emphasis on deposition and re-entrainment models, and the effect of process variables on six types of fouling. This review should be read as a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, other surveys of the same subject.
