Abstract

Tube-side condensation of refrigerant-12 vapor in both internally finned and unfinried horizontal tubes is investigated. The study consists of two parts: analytical and experimental programs. In the analytical program, theory is developed to predict the heat transfer and pressure drop performance. The analysis is general and can be applied to both the finned and unfinned tubes. The three most probable regimes of the flow are considered: the dispersed, annular and slug flow patterns. The theoretical prediction agrees well with the test data for both smooth and finned tube.
