MODEL TIME DEPENDENT REACTION PROCESS IN A SPHERE DROPLET
Abstract
The author considers the time-dependent heat and mass transfer distribution in a spherical droplet immersed in a continuous phase. Initially the droplet contains specie A while specie B penetrates from the continuous phase through the outer surface of the droplet. A and B react in an irreversible manner, as long as specie A is not fully consumed. The reaction is exothermic and, as the temperature rises above its ambient level, the reaction rate becomes faster. By analysing the combined time-dependent heat
and mass transfer problem, the author accounts for the acceleration of the reaction process due to heat
generation.
