Abstract

In order to overcome the shortcomings of existing theories the new physical model of the nucleation process on heated surface is given, based on the kinetic theory of liquid. The model takes into account the fact that the liquid in the vicinity of the heated surface is not in the state of thermodynamic equilibrium, i.e. with maximum entropy. Using dimensional analysis and numerical experiments the relation for prediction the probability of a critical nucleus formation on the heated surface is obtained, and liquid superheating obtained by this relation are compared with the results of many experiments.
