Abstract

A great variety of surface, displaced and vortex flow turbulence promoters have been developed for augmentation of heat transfer in single-phase flow. At the present time, however, there are no generally accepted performance criteria which will permit rapid determination of heat duty increase or area reduction with given system constraints. A number of practical performance evaluation criteria are developed in this paper and applied to typical data.
