HEAT TRANSFER AND HYDRAULIC DRAG OF BANKS OF FINNED TUBES AT HIGH REYNOLDS NUMBERS
Abstract
Experimental results are reported of heat transfer and hydraulic drag of staggered banks of tubes with helical and annular fins. Nine banks of different arrangement have
been studied. The known relations have been extended to account for fin geometry and bank arrangement in the range of Reynolds number from 104 to 106. The increased turbulence in the boundary layer in the mixed flow is reflected by the power index of Re in the criterial relations, m=0.8 for Re from 2×l04 to 2×105, and m=0.625 for Re<104. At Re≥2×105, with the establishment of turbulent boundary layer, m=0.95, and the hydraulic drag of the bank Eu=f(Re) becomes automodel and independent of Re.
