Abstract

An approximate theoretical description of the main characteristics of absorption and scattering of infrared radiation by polydisperse particles of Diesel fuel is proposed. It is shown that often used gray model does not give the correct values of the radiation absorbed by droplets and the radiation flux to the cylinder head. The model proposed is sufficiently accurate and it is not so time-consuming as the detailed spectral calculations.
