Abstract

The paper describes four general systems of supply and venting for experimental single tube condenser cells. The authors discuss the correlations for the heat transfer coefficient and the mass transfer coefficient, for "open" and "closed" cells, devised by previous experimenters, and compare these with their own results for an open cell with various venting arrangements. A new correlation is proposed, and proposals for a comparator cell for tubes with various forms of extended surface are included.
