THE EFFECT OF FLOW FLUCTUATION ON CRITICAL HEAT FLUX
Abstract
This report deals with the relationship among critical heat flux, flow
pattern and flow fluctuation. Under constant inlet velocity, as the exit
steam quality increased, the critical heat flux qc does not decrease uniformly,
but has a minimum value in the comparatively low quality region.
Such tendency was analyzed by using a slug flow model.
Moreover, when some compressibility exists in a flow system, flow fluctuation
occurs at the entrance of the test section, and qc decreases by the
effect of such entrance flow fluctuation. The method to predict the
decreasing rate of qc was suggested.
