COMPUTER - AIDED DESIGN OF DIRECT EXPANSION COOLING COILS
Abstract
A mathematical model for the simulation of direct-expansion cooling coils for air is presented. A step by step procedure for the design is outlined. Coil dimensions, rows, circuits, etc., are calculated for the given inlet and outlet conditions of air. A sample design problem is illustrated. A search method is used to optimize the design. The cost of copper tubing is taken as the optimization function. The running and other costs are eliminated.
