EVALUATION OF BUBBLE DEPARTURE DIAMETER CORRELATIONS

Abstract

Twelve bubble departure diameter correlations from the literature have been compared to a large data bank of bubble departure diameters culled from the literature covering a very wide range of experimental conditions. Fifteen fluids are represented and the pressures range from about 4.7 kPa to 13,500 kPa. Over five hundred data points are evaluated. The ability of each of these correlations to predict accurately the data is shown. In addition, two new correlations are developed and presented which predict the data reasonably well.
