Abstract

A mathematical model describing the combined multicomponent mass transfer and heat transfer in porous media accompanied by non-isothermal gas-solid reactions is derived.
Making use of derived model the overall conversion profiles are determined. With various levels of internal heat transfer resistance a comparison of profiles is made for all the mass transfer modes considered.
The analysis shows that the effect of both mass transfer regime and thermal conditions in a porous grain on the process behaviour can be quite large and depends on the kinetic and stoichiometric parameters and grain shape.
