BUOYANCY AND VARIABLE PROPERTY EFFECTS IN LAMINAR AIDED CONVECTION IN A VERTICAL ANNULUS
Abstract
This paper concerns a numerical study of buoyancy aided forced convection of air in a uniformly heated, vertical, concentric, circular annulus with a radius ratio of 0.25. Velocity and temperature profiles are assumed to be developing simultaneously, and thermophysical properties are temperature-dependent. It is shown that the pressure defect is increased drastically by the fluid property variation and by buoyancy forces, whereas the Nusselt number is only modestly affected by these influences.
