Abstract

A numerical analysis was carried out on laminar forced convection of a temperature-sensitive magnetic fluid in a heated or cooled circular tube, and the possibility of heat transfer control is demonstrated. The temperature dependence of viscosity and magnetization is taken into account in the analysis. The temperature dependence of both viscosity and magnetization affect the velocity profiles, but does not affect the temperature profiles. The development of the thermal boundary is very slow due to the large Prandtl number of the magnetic fluid. Consequently, the effect of the temperature condition on the pressure distribution along the tube is small.
