CONDENSATION OF A BUBBLE IN A MISCIBLE LIQUID: CHARACTERISTICS OF THE THERMAL RESISTANCE

Abstract

A model of a condensing bubble based on measurements and visualization is used to describe the collapse process of small and intermediate-size bubbles, and to analyze the thermal resistance of the bubble. The model is derived from the "envelope model", which was developed for condensation in immiscible liquids, by neglecting the conductive internal thermal resistance of the condensate that mixes instantly with the surrounding. The model was analyzed by parametric variation and compared to condensation in immiscible liquids.
