Abstract

This paper presents a summary of the type of thermal hydraulic calculations carried out at NNC Ltd Research and Development Division. Four case studies are presented. The first two cases illustrate potential design problems caused by diametral temperature differences due to buoyancy; cases three and four illustrate how buoyancy can be exploited to advantage. In each case computational results are compared with reactor or rig data.
