Abstract

Heat transfer of a longitudinally streamlined plate with a closed separation at its entrance section caused by changes in the inlet edge configuration was studied experimentally as affected by external flow turbulization.
The turbulence degree along the plate changed from 12 to 6 %. The velocity and temperature turbulence characteristics within a boundary layer and in the external flow were determined by the hot-wire method.
The inlet edge configuration affects the location of the reattachment point as well as the heat transfer intensity all over the plate surface.
The external turbulence effect was determined as applied to the length of the separated bubble, heat transfer intensity in it, in the reattachment and relaxation regions. Methods are suggested for calculation of heat transfer in the mentioned surface regions.
