THREE-DIMENSIONAL DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF CROSSFLOW HEAT EXCHANGERS
A dynamic simulation method of crossflow heat exchangers with neither fluid mixed is developed, with transverse heat conduction resistance of core wall and heat capacities of both fluids and core wall. The final transient temperature distributions are determined by numerical inversion of a dual Laplace transform. Effect of the transverse conduction resistance on transient behaviour is discussed. In addition, an approximate method of handling such resistance is proposed to improve the conventional lumped heat capacity model. Comparison between both the accurate and approximate methods is given.
