RECENT ADVANCES IN CONDENSATION HEAT TRANSFER

Ichiro Tanasawa
Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo Tokyo, Japan

Abstract

A state-of-the-art review is presented in this paper on the advances in condensation heat transfer during these eight years which correspond to two four-year intervals between the three recent International Heat Transfer Conferences. The papers published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, the Journal of Heat Transfer (Trans. ASME), and Series B of the Trans. JSME are chosen as the main resources of the review. The papers printed elsewhere on other publications or more than eight years ago are also referred to whenever needed. The major topics which are reviewed are; (I)Molecular dynamics in condensation, (2) Dropwise condensation, (3) Enhancement of condensation heat transfer, and (4) Condensation of multicomponent vapors. Concluding remarks follow these four topics and the author's personal view on the future directions in the research on condensation heat transfer is stated.
