Abstract

In this work, the infrared "reactive" drying of a model water based epoxy amine painting was studied. The two simultaneous kinetic processes, the water vaporization and the resin polymerization, were studied experimentally and a diffusional model of infrared drying/curing phenomena was proposed. After identification of the diffusion coefficient values D(X,T) as a function of humidity and temperature, the complete model coupling chemical kinetics and heat and mass transferprocesses was validated.
