Abstract

In this paper, the influence of the effective thermal conductivity change adjacent to the cooling wall on condensation heat transfer in porous media was investigated theoretically. The investigation shows that, the effective thermal conductivity change plays an important rule for condensation heat transfer in porous media, the effect is much more prominent than the velocity creep. For the condensate film region, the momentum equation including a variable porosity was solved. From the energy equation, a nonlinear temperature distribution was obtained. The prediction of the condensation heat transfer coefficient were presented for water vapor condensed in steel beads, stainless steel beads and in glass beads.
