OPTIMUM DESIGN OF PLATE TYPE HEAT EXCHANGERS FOR PREHEATING AIR
Abstract
Plate type heat exchangers are successfully used especially for gas/gas applications owing to significant advantages. In this field they are very efficient as the air preheaters for different process cases. A method for optimum design of plate type heat exchangers from the economic point of view is presented in this paper. This method is based on an interaction between heat transfer and pressure drop. It provides the designers with economically optimum design of preheating units. The benefit of using this method is demonstrated through practical examples. Software GAMS is applied for further improving and speeding up the procedure.
