Abstract

A modified heat transfer model of dropwise condensation has been proposed. It is suggested that a film of condensate existed on the area between the droplets and also on the base area of the departed drops. The model is so simplified that it contains only a few of main parameters, such as temperature difference, thickness of condensate film, diameter of departure drop, drop-size distribution. The heat transfer coefficient and heat flux of dropwise condensation are calculated and the results are proved to be reasonable, when compared with the experimental data in previous studies.
