Abstract

In this paper, the possibility of using molecular alloys phase change materials for cooling telecommunication outdoor cabinets is studied. Firstly, a numerical investigation is performed with a commercial numerical tool. Then experiments are made in a laboratory that recreates external temperature and solar heat flux of a typical summer day.
There is a disagreement between our simplified numerical results and experimental results therefore more investigations will be pursued to optimize the simulation of MAPCM heat exchangers. Nevertheless, MAPCM technique has shown significant results experimentally and an interesting way of limiting the temperature of telecommunication equipment according to the politic of France Telecom in sustainable development.
