SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF A HYBRID-POWER GAS ENGINE HEAT PUMP SYSTEM

Abstract

The Hybrid-power gas engine-driven heat pump (HPGHP) combines hybrid power technology with gas engine heat pump. In this paper, the mathematical model of the various components of a coaxial − parallel HPGHP is established based on experiment data in heating condition. And energy management strategy aiming at optimizing drive system thermal efficiency is proposed to distribute power between gas engine and motor. To better the energy management strategy, the penalty function is introduced. HPGHP system simulation based on Matlab/Simulink and experiment study is carried out. Simulation results demonstrate compressor speed range of three modes and the torque distribution of gas engine and motor. Experiment results show that engine thermal efficiency reaches its maximum value approximately 0.272, 0.279 and 0.268 and fuel-consumed rate reaches its minimum value about 286.49 g/(kWh), 277.30 g/(kWh) and 290.75 g/(kWh) in mode C, mode D and mode E, respectively. The maximum difference between simulation and experiment of engine thermal efficiency and fuel-consumed rate is 7.2% and 9.4%, indicating acceptable agreement.
