Abstrakt

In many physical systems there is transfer of heat and a single adsorbate between a porous medium and a flowing interstitial single-phase fluid mixture. For a simple model of such systems transfer is described by film transfer coefficients, and diffusion in the fluid flow direction is neglected. An approximate analogy approach is presented here which enables the behaviour of this model to be understood and predicted from the known results for the model with heat transfer alone. The performance of a silicagel dehumidifier is predicted by the analogy approach and by numerical solution of the exact equations of the model, and adequate agreement is found.
