Abstrakt

The problem of film cooling has been, for many years, the subject of investigation by numerous investigators. Yet an accurate prediction of flow parameters, i.e., displacement thickness, momentum thickness, etc., has not been successful. A new procedure is devised and successfully used for prediction of flow parameters in a turbulent flow over a film-cooled surface. The results are in good agreement with experimental data of other investigators. The procedure for calculating so-called film cooling effectiveness is discussed. The method is extended to incorporate the case of variable main-stream velocity outside of the boundary layer.
